It was mentioned that it was used in the mining industry. Did it have any use at coke ovens? I ask because I found a long hook at an old coke oven site, but it was round, not flat like yours. Besides, they made coke from coal.

put a small "cork screw" on the end for pulling duds out of the hole

Sheeesh I can see that none of you ever drilled a hole in concrete or rock by hand, nor used explsives heheheh.

Last major hint before revealing something that even most miners would never guess.

A simple hand made tool that is very necessary for the small miner.

crevice tool for pulling nuggs etc from cracks in beerock ::)

Im a stay above the ground person and I work around and with wood so if I havent seen it on a job then I dont know.......
