When was it made? 20210118_122432.webp20210118_122432.webp20210118_122449.webp20210118_122501.webp20210118_122531.webp20210118_122535.webp

My post ended with the fact that I hope he finds something worth posting and I was 100% sincere. Was I a smart ass on the fact that he asked why someone would "lose" a pece of alumium trash? Yes, yes I certianly was. My bad. I apologise. I really do try to be a good Tnetter, TH.

Campfire nuggets. This is a term we use to describe melted aluminum. It's trash, please dispose of properly. I'm still hoping you find something nice to post!

The rusty part you refer to is called the "post".

Looks like it might be a brass or copper ring and could have been silver or gold plated at one time. Your pics are too dark. Any markings on the inside?

ticndig is thinking that you dug this out in a field where there was lots of prior human history. Many detectorists work plowed fields and that is why he thinks this.
Just trying to be helpful with IDing your scrap metal.

That looks to be a civil war park leaverite! A reproduction, of course.
I'M KIDDING YOU! It's trash. I wish you good luck next time out!
Please dispose of properly and thank you for cleaning up the park grounds.
