There are no markings that I can see. It is quite heavy. I was thinking since the red lenses are made thick like railroad lenses that is could be a tail light that can reflect through the clear glass for people to read. It is made for a 110v circuit. I had purchased it from an antique mall. I am stumpedI was thinking a darkroom safe light till I saw the clear glass on one side.
Not sure on that. The license plate light would need be on continuously, but then that would keep the stop lights on also.Looks like a stop/tail light. Maybe motorhome or trailer? The license plate would mount underneath and get the white light.

FYI They make 12 volt light bulbs that will screw into those type sockets.View attachment 1415908

That's funny, but still a good idea, that is until a person forgot to make the change but I would imagine you would remember the next time.Right you are. The camper our family had back in the '60 didn't have a power converter. When we stopped in a campground with 110 hookups, we had to go around and change all the light bulbs from the 12V ones we used while driving, to the 110 volts ones.
