Found this small thing a few weeks ago.

It has an "M" on top. a "3" in the middle. and "Ace Drive" on the bottom

The round thing on back unscrews and comes off. Its brass I believe.

Any help would be great!

Any towns around that start with a “M” that have or had a race track? Maybe the race track started with “M”.

“3” was probably a car number.

As for what is was used, maybe a collar pin.

Hey nathan,

Cool motoring find, sir. I know it's a long shot, but wonder about an old Morgan Ace Driver lapel pin...

I think it may be a truck driver's award for 3 years of good driving.

Like I said, there are quite a few on ebay, with very little information. Their assertion that it's generic truck driver's award, with nothing to back it up, not even the name of the trucking company that issued them, is like my asserting that they are 3 year service awards from Ace Hardware. However, after researching it a bit more, it does appear as though the "M" stands for Markel Express Lines and it is indeed a safe driver award.
