I was reading some of the stuff on here and it donned on me. It would be interesting to know what type of things people have found in their own yards. Any caches? Anything of real interest?.
When I first started detecting I used my new detector to cover the yard. I haven't been back over it with my Minelab. I'll bet if i did, I might even find some older things. I don't have alot of depth with my Whites Spectrum and it does lousy the way I have it set for gold. Anyways, I found a 1952 coin about the size of a silver dollar made of brass with a baby on it. I figure it was a birth coin. ALong with this I have found a nudie coin (heads/tails) and pieces of an old bracelet plus the usual clad. In my neighbors yards when I have been lucky enough to get permission to hunt them, I have found a few Mercs and some older pennies plus some cool costume rings, lead soldiers, brass lipstick holders, old foreign coins, and a huge anvil shaped block of iron. Nothing too exciting, but it's always fun to imagine who used the yard years ago. Oh, I almost forgot! I was allowed to hunt my neighbors yard across the street and went first with my spectrum. Found two Hyvis oil tokens in one yard! In all my time detecting I have found only one other one of these and I found two in one day. Then i was not fully satisfied with my spectrum and wanted to see if I had left anything behind, so I went over the yard again with my Minelab. I was getting a very weak signal near the front steps of the house, and the owner was sitting on the steps watching me detect. He was re-doing the lawn so he didn't care much how big a hole I had made. When I got down about 6" my signal disappeared. I checked the pile next to the hole and found a nnice old 10 Kt. gold ring in it. I offered it to him since I really couldn't hide it and it was his property after all. He said, "No, you found it, so it's yours". That was a happy day. 8)

I'm in a home that is just over a year old. I bought this as an investment and just signed the paperwork yesterday to build a new home a fews miles down the road. SO, I'm pretty sure I won't be posting any old finds from that house either
