Could have been used for many things... Looks to be 1910-1930ish..

I've never seen anything like that in my life. The only think I can think of that a lead hex nut could be used for would be as some type of anchor bolt possibly in concrete or either in a hollow wall (like a molly bolt.) Interesting :) Breezie

Battery cable conector would be my guess.

I agree, definitely an electrical connector of some type, probably to a battery.

They were used with batteries that powered the radios in the 20s 30s before many people had electrical power.
