Buckleboy and I both dug one of these in a sugarcane field where there was an old plantation but also a 1920s or so "modern" house later. The two hex nuts are lead, the threaded stud is brass. About 1 1/8" long. Modern cent in there for reference. Any ideas? thanks! Shane

I've never seen anything like that in my life. The only think I can think of that a lead hex nut could be used for would be as some type of anchor bolt possibly in concrete or either in a hollow wall (like a molly bolt.) Interesting Breezie

Mine too. I've seen lead nuts used on old batteries before.
