Iron Age sword scabbard bands !! 2,500 to 3,000 years old....
Anyone weeping yet ??
It only took me 15 minutes to find them, then an hour to get them out of rock hard ground at 9 to 10 inches. The sword was a little deeper, but totally rusted through. The wood of the scabbard was gone too. The end bit I haven´t found yet, so I´ll be back there. They were in a clump that took me 24 hours in an electrolite solution to get down, then a scrape over with a copper coin to get the rough off it.
Happy Hunting.

A sword sounds great but like you said, trying to get it out of the ground in one piece would be a miracle. Find that in Germany? HH, Mike

No, South Holland. My mate Ben posted it on my name because he doesn´t have Internet himself (I gave him his own e-mail name last week, but he keeps forgetting to log in under it !!). He bought an ACE 250 on my advice as he´s out of work and doesn´t have much money. You can´t get a bigger bang for the bucks. Me I´m still home with a ruptered disk or three, and waiting for the Hospital strikes to end :(
When I´ve been done, the first thing I´ll do is take a week of detecting, and a week of fishing, and maybe a week of diving too. ;D ;D ;D
Happy Hunting
