WHAT I FOUND TODAY

I dropped a nickel in my backyard yesterday while I was fooling around with my detecter, so I went out today to see if I could locate it. Well, after about an hour of digging, I found exactly four nails-----------no nickel. I swear I'm going to change my screen name to the Nail Queen! AAAAARRRGHHHHH!

Went out for about 30 mins. tonite to play around with the disc & notch stuff. Laid down an old nail and disc'd it out as was advised. Worked great!!! Didn't find a single nail. This time I found............(drum roll please)..........a teeny tiny screw and nut, or bolt, don't know my hardware yet!! TA-DAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Guess I've moved up to the next class, huh? Still haven't found that *^^**&%# nickel yet.

Minelab - I understand I probably wouldn't have to dig for the nickel, but my backyard is heavily wooded and has a couple of inches of dead leaves which would easily hide it even if I just was moving them aside to clear a spot. Good idea about putting down another nickel and checking the sound. I'll have to try that tomorrow. We had a hard rain last night so it could be just about anywhere by now. The skeeters chased me in tonite so I couldn''t stay out very long.

Screws are just fancier nails, sounds like your moving up though.

When I asked if you were notching out pull tabs, I meant that would be a bad thing to do in this situation since nickels may be lost as well, hope I didn't confuse things.

Ya may not have enough nails yet, but think of the money you'll save in hardware to build that dream house....and if ya keep diggin them you be able to have the foundation dug to boot. See just look at that money the MD is saving ya
