IMG_2231 (1).JPGI mentioned in a previous post that I got a detector for Christmas and as I am more interested in arrowheads I used it on a few times on our farm and found some spent rifle casings, Butts of shotgun shells, couple coins, pocket knife, pull tabs where we have let people camp to fish. Found one arrowhead, and some indian pottery shards.I have looked at Treasure Net for years but not about detecting and Civil war. My interest was piqued by a visit to this forum and the items you have found. To end this post I ask you what did I find and why are some of them white color. I spent about 4 hours at a highschool friends farm at Resaca Ga. last Saturday. Danny took me to some ditches he said were positions in the war. He did not which side they were,Union or Confederates. We are 77 years of age and stayed on level ground in the ditch as I fall a lot. I found two bullets and as it was hot we started to leave but every time I moved my detector it got a hit I was tired and soon stopped. I'm more interested in what is the small round one. I will go back there soon. Here are the bullets I found.

You have found what might just be a hotspot for CW artifacts.I see three ringers, musketballs perhaps 69 and 58 cal and pistol balls. White surface is old patina, dont clean it off. Get back there young man!

You have found a place you need to return too! Nice finds and congrats!

Sweet!! Take your time,it's been there for a 150+ yr.s  Aint going anywhere!!

Back to the Trench! Nice saves on the CW lead and the iron canister ball. Continued Success to you.

The small one is probably what was called Buck and Ball. Basically a large ball and three smaller balls loaded on top. The Confederates used it a lot. Those three ringers are Civil War Era. That large one if its iron may be a grape shot from a cannon. Awesome finds I'd hunt that place again!!!

Thanks all for your info. I will go back. Danny is going to show me areas of Tunnel Hill Battle sites. I did not know Sherman was there. Are my bullers union or Confederate. Danny doesn't know which side or if both side used the trench. I will write this information down as I get it.

I don’t see an Enfield bullet. The second from top does have rings.

Ill throw in my opinion , look's like you have both Union and Confederate Bullets ,Mostly union in my limited opinion the round ball's would more likely be Confederate ( I could be wrong ) , Nice Clean Iron Artillery Ball, 52 caliber Sharps carbine drop, the 'dented' Cone may be a .54 cal Mississippi Rifle (a bullet type I have never dug) , Nice condition fired 3 ringer , your .54 caliber 'if that what it is , would be sweet it it was a .44 r.40 something ? caliber 3 ringer , & 2 .58 caliber dropped Minnie's 'tho the bottom one look's bigger . + IMO , they could be either rebel or union rounds. ???

If you could barely move without a signal ( WOW ! a good site it would seem ) if or when you go back , dig more 'lower but still decent ' tones cause ill bet there is a button or 2 there.
Good Luck & Thanks for the pictures.
