What has 12 hard drives, 14 sticks of RAM, 4 CPU and weighs 150 lbs???

One more: Any value in old or broken digital cameras?
Yes, they can be thrown at the geese that sometimes bother me when I go to my local lake.

I live in an upper floor apartment (for now) so that I do not have to carry 100 lbs of phones up the stairs and back down I go to my lake and process them.

process = remove backs, batteries & sim card then box for shipment.

that's awesome man ,way to go on precious metals recovery. Do you buy the phones in bulk?
I get my phones from 3 places. yardsales (1-10 per saturday) swapmeets (0-50 whenever I go) and Juan (about 450 every 3-4 weeks)

All Juan's phones are trashed (shattered screens, no backs, bent or been dunked in the toilet)
You can tell if a phone ever got wet, there is a very small sticker in the battery compartment if it is red or pink it took a dunk.

Approximately how many phones equal a pound?
average weight (no battery or back) is 3 oz

Do I-pods have scrap value?
I don't think so. They are not on my buy list.
What I like to do with things like that. After I finish processing my phones, at the lake, if I accidently buy an i-pod I leave it sitting in a spot where it looks like someone lost it. It gets peoples hopes up and then they find out it is broken. yes I am an SOB.

Is it worth taking the memory cards out of the phones before scraping them?
I see very little memory cards but I do pull them. I see tons of SIM cards and i pull them also. I am saving every little thing that has gold showing. someday I will list on ebay as a bulk lot.

Are you talking about an iphone or an ipod?

So....How much did you make on it?

Looks like the buyers of cell phones want the battery removed. Are there people that buy cell phone batteries? Or do you just toss them?

There are regulations regarding batteries and shipping, especially lithium ion. Also, defective ones can leak and ruin equipment or even start fires.
