We couldn't tell if that was a different version of an "&" symbol.

Looks like a Horse shoe with an arrow through it possibly.

A buddy of mine looked at it with a jeweler's loupe and a bright light. He could make out the wreath and he thought "57"

What is an "LC"?

Looks like B&P or B&F. The ampersand is very stylized.

I see "B & F", so put me in the ampersand camp.

Also, below the "B", I see what looks like lettering with strong bracketed serifs.
Possibly a "U" "N" but the N is uncertain.
