what do you do with gold and silver?

I have a collection of nice rings, men an womens. However, I mainly wait till I have a couple ounces and take it to a refiner. I use Midwest Refineries which is a couple miles away. They pay 94% of spot which is lots more money than you get from a pawnshop. I have given rings away to relatives as gifts too.

I don't think there is any such thing as silver and gold that aren't "keepers" even if it's eventually destined for the refinery. Personally I like to save a pile of it and roll around in it laughing like a mad man- sometimes I put an eye patch on when I'm doing it. ;D ;D ;D

Pulltabs? What are those? They must be really rare because iv never found one yet. Sure lots of other stuff but never any pull tabs. Humm....

I have to admit that once a ring or piece of jewelry is melted down, the romance of looking at it is gone. Just because I needed to convert it into gas money. Once it's gone, I start forgetting certain rings I had found and the story they told. I started out attaching small tags to items with where found, etc. so I would remember when I looked at them again.

What temperature does silver melt at?? I was just thinking.. I know somebody with ceramic kilns - they can "fire" at really high temps... I could turn my scrap silver into ingots... how cool would that be!!
