What Are Your Top Twenty War Movies?

Yep, both the movie and TV series were great. Incredible cast of actors, but I doubt Klinger could get his Section 8 in today's army.

I would also offer up:
1) Paths to Glory
2) The Gallant Hours
3) The Beast
4) HBO's Tuskegee Airman

Not a war movie all the way through but gladiator is in my list

Gladiator is a great flick, no doubt, but could have done without Caesar wanting to do his sister...acted so well it kinda creeped me out.

Gladiator is a war movie..... just another war, that's all. ╦╦ç

I recently watched Warhorse One. I served in Afghanistan in 10-11 and this movie had me shaking. I highly recommend it. The sacrifice for such a small package is incredible.

I've gotten emotional over some, but this was different. I felt sadness and rage at the same time. The last 25 or so minutes really got me bad. Took me a few hours to calm down afterward.

That's hard, there are many. I'll give you my top 10 in no paticular order and a bonus.
1. The Dirty Dozen
2. Kelly's Heroes
3. Where eagles Dare
4. Midway
5. The great escape
6. Tora tora tora
7. Force 10 from navarrone.
8. Guns of Navarrone
9. The longest day.
10. Ensign pulver
The bonus is the combat tv series with vic morrow. I have the whole series on DVD. If you notice all my faves are old movies because hollyweird sucks now imo. They don't make movies like they used to.

I will have to look up Ensign Pulver and watch it. That is one I haven't seen and a few people have said it was one they enjoyed.

One war movie that left a significant impression on me was *Saving Private Ryan*. The opening scene was so intense; I remember sitting silently after watching it for the first time. It made me think about the sacrifices made during wartime. Another one I got into more recently is *1917*; how it was filmed to look like one continuous shot completely pulled me into the story.
