Hi there, as you all know, it takes a lot of hard work to find the best of the best treasures. There have been a lot of really awsome finds posted on this forum over the years, but if you could choose just one of your finds that would top all the others, what would it be? For me, I would have to say that my best find is the 1830 Large Cent pictured below. If not for the corrosion, it would grade very close to AU. So share your all time best find, and post a picture if possible. I look forward to your replies. HH!

Those are great finds !!!Definately...But this -1805- Draped Bust half dime was the shocker when first seeing the "AMERICA" on the back .Knowing it was going to be old. Plus finding out from one of the TreasureNet members that there are only 150 known to exist today....Makes it my best coin find to date......Keep on digging!!!!! Seeker

Don't know who told you that (and even though it's a very nice coin/find) there are a LOT more than 150 in existence...

I've noticed on the forum that many don't seem to rate reales (rae-el) very highly. Personally, I don't get it. Man, they are awesome coins! If one actually digs a reale coin of any size one is most fortunate.

I've found about 50+ over the years and 4 were holed. This may really sound extra dumb but I like the holed ones as much as the solid. We're talkin mega history here.

Well, this ain't my thread so I'll shut up and go away.

Great find!

i know i felt fortunant to dig the one i found! money wise it is only about a $20 coin but its worth more than that to me!........this may be a dumb question but.....why did they hole them? did they make jewelry from them or something?

Great find!

The main reason for the holes was for jewelry. Reales were greatly valued by almost everyone including the members of the original 13 colonies.

Many holed reales (and other types) are found on or near Revolutionary and Civil War battle sites. The soldiers wore them as good-luck pieces.?

One of the most prized coins in the colonies was the piece of eight though few could afford them.

Nothing really good here, but i did find a corroded 1792 spanish conterfeit/token/?. I aslo found a 1920's children's badge ($50). I also found a 1930's or older 4" indian lead toy, a 1939 tootsie toy car, a $200 dollar watch. And thats about it

Great coin there, Seeker. There was a little confusion about it here but that's finally cleared up I think. Who knows, there may well only be a small number still out there in collections.

I'd give 3 pieces of eight to dig one like yours!

Zeb P.S. There's one on ebay now....
