By numbers I mean the most of anything you've found on a single day and that hunt will always stick in your mind as be great.

The ones that stick out for me are....

-28 Large coppers (1830 was the newest)

-5 early military buttons (Were Rev War)

-180 Enfield bullets

I don't think I'll beat my copper count, and know I won't find more Enfields, but I do believe some day I will hit a site and find more than 5 early military buttons... and I can't wait to post it!

Good thread..

(9)Coppers was my best day for coins.. not bad in Northern Virginia!

Best day numbers wise was Three Union plates, 20 some mixed NY and Eagle Buttons and well over 300 three ringers...

Second best day was all three issued US plates.. Eagle, Cartridge and US Buckle.. all in a 3 foot square!! Along with a couple finials and a couple dozen three ringers. The cool part about that day was I had been finding Gardners all over the place before I hit the US plates!! Love to know the story about that one!!

That's a hell of a CW day by modern standards. Imagine what the replies would be for some of the guys digging 20-50 years ago. I paid a visit to a small museum in VA which a good part of the stuff was found by about 6 guys, most of whom have now passed. There was A LOT of relics!

Sounds to me like you found the final resting place of a soldier. Since you made the finds, I wanted to ask, do you think this is possible based on the way the targets were dispersed?

Iron Patch - you are one of the people on here that never cease to amaze me. You truly have made some astounding discoveries. Thank you for sharing them with all of us.

This year was my first year of hunting in the dirt, so I found all of these in the last 12 months.

473 ticks on me after one hunt this summer
33 US Infantry Officer buttons from the war of 1812 all strung together
2 Spanish silver in one day(happened twice)
3 Spanish silver in one day
6(maybe 7) different sites that gave up spanish silver
1 Handgun - a Revolver
4 different times my partner or I found a killer coin/relic, and then the other found a better relic/coin of the same type within 2 hours. Happened with VA Militia buttons, cut pistarenes, silver cuff links, a couple spanish silver, and possibly more as well that I can't recall offhand. The most unusual occasion of that type was when I dug a strange ring of brass about 3 inches in diameter that was broken. I turned to show Jeff, and as I did, he walked up to me to show me a strange piece of brass he had just dug as well. Took one look at it, put my piece nect to it, and sure enough they fit. Plow broke it and moved half 15 feet away. What are the odds? We quit tryin to figure that stuff out long ago... Some strange mojo workin between us, but I can't complain!

Hopefully next year will have more numerically significant hunts(in a good way!)
