Met up with a friend and we started swinging in a field where a huge 1850's house was and then moved. We found all sorts of trash...lots of mystery metal! Chip found piece of a shoe buckle and finally had to call it a day after a couple of hours due to a brisk wind. I stayed a little bit and wandered around. From the amount of iron around, they must have been planting it hoping to grow tractors! Anyway, I found a '71 quarter then started wandering. I found more of the mystery metal and the two pieces of brass from wooden framing squares? One still has some wood in it. I managed to find a 41mm flare casing (weird) and a railroad spike (even weirder since the nearest train tracks are 8 miles as the crow flys. I found the round piece that I've also posted in the Whatzit forum. I also found an axehead, but not sure on the age of it....plus, enough iron to armor a ship with!

Might be worth checking out again old place should be something worth screaming out for there ....LOL...:dontknow:

I'll be back. Chip found an 1853 Indian Head there before.

I'm pretty sure that round piece has some letters on it - could it have been a large cent at one time ? interesting finds !

It's 3 3/8" round and the square hole is 3/8". It's not perfectly round.

Thanks for the info (that would be a LARGE cent indeed !) did you notice some letters on it also ?

No letters...just scratches. Maybe it's just a patch or something...

Nice finds! Your iron multiplies like my can slaw does, wish they would stop feeding it! There's good stuff there, just have to get the coil over it! Probably hiding under the iron.
