So last week was my first time CRH'ing and I got hooked. I had gone through a box of half dollars and had ordered 4 more for pickup tomorrow. I got a call tonight from BOA saying the shipment was delayed and they won't be here until next week. Like many normal Americans, I work during Monday-Friday bank hours and have to wait until next Saturday for pickup… What a buzzkill! I was looking forward to this day as soon as I finished my box of halves last Saturday.

With that being said, I have contemplated switching to TD Bank 1) since they have very accommodating bank hours (open all 7 days and way longer hours) and 2) coin counters are available for free to customers. Does anyone have experience with TD Bank? If so, can you please provide your honest reviews and maybe I'll consider switching banks or adding another account.

Thanks!

mjr08010, I do not recommend asking for anything above 2 boxes per or visiting the bank more than once a week. You'll get cut off very quickly. Good luck though!

I only visit on Saturdays and pre-ordered 4 boxes of halves. These three dime boxes was just a spur of the moment thing. But I understand what you're saying. My process is about to change once I get that second bank account opened next Saturday.

Side note, out of three boxes of dimes I got ONE silver, haha! 1946.

congrats on your first silver. by the way, 1946 is the first year they minted Roosevelt dimes. You got your first silver dime that also happens to be the first year that silver type was made. :D

With regards to the second bank account I am planning to open, does it make sense to make it a checking or savings account? All I am using it for is a place to dump my coins and then transfer the funds online back to my main BOA account.

Which ever doesnt cost ya a fee- and I just withdraw once I dump the coins- I dont bother with online transferring

It may not matter much. I would say whichever has the lowest fees (if any) and seems most appropriate for you. I would talk to the person at the bank to get info on their accounts. I have two checking accts and one other that is a combo checking/savings acct that I just opened late last year. I only write one check a month from my BOA acct. And I have direct deposit split up between the two checking accts to avoid paying any acct fees.

You may want to check around to see if any banks have any offers to get money to open an acct. When I opened my Chase checking acct a couple of years ago I got $125 just for opening the acct. I just had to have direct deposit and have the acct open for a few months then they credited the money in my acct. Just different things to consider. So just check around a little to see which bank has the best offers, most convenient locations and might seem to give u the best service, etc.

GL & H$H!

most likely checking because most savings accounts have a low withdraw limitation anything over will cost money

Great tip - I'll be sure to inquire about their withdrawal fees on checking & savings accounts.

I'm either really behind the times or this is something new… Since when can you just create/open a new bank account online? I always thought that had to be a person-to-person process? My new dumping bank may be easier to create than I thought lol

If you're referring to something I said, I was just meant you'll have to get your acct set up online if you want do online transactions, but that's after you've already opened your acct. at the bank itself. :)

But actually now that I think of it u might be able to open some accts with some banks online but I've never done that myself.

Nope, just happened to go on the website of a local bank and right there was the option to create a brand new checking account. No person needed on the other end. Fully automated. Wow, this world is becoming extremely streamlined.

Lol....u beat the update to my previous post because I just remembered the bank that I opened my acct with late last year had the option to create accts online too but I just went to do it at the bank itself since I had coins to dump there that day anyway lol. Well good luck.
