went out for around 6hrs today with uncle Jeff of PA and met up with Mike of Berks. It is the last friday I have off so I was hoping to make the best of it. 5hrs in I had found a lot of quarters, but wasn't hitting anything old. That all changed in a hurry when I found my first Large Cent, an 1834 down about 8 inches! Followed it up a few seconds later with the gold charm, initials JWD. Then I found the old cast iron leg, stove or tub maybe???? Ended up with 69 coins, one ring, one charm, cast iron leg, small round ball, old buckle and the end to a fantastic summer. It's amazing how one single spot can change your whole treasure hunting luck. Thanks Jeff of PA and TexJim for letting me in on the secret, you don't know how much I appreciate it.

Just shows how the Seal Fob/Matrix had progressed to just a piece of fashion jewelry, as the initials are no longer in reverse so as to be useless as a letter sealer. Interesting, as I have seen plain ones & hatched types but none with forward reading letters, late Victorian I would guess. I knew they became pretty instead of functional but this is prove positive :hello2:

Was an awsome day !

Weather Wise & Finds Wise !

Makes me Very Happy You got a Large Cent !

It must be in the blood. Your turning into a shop vac like your uncle.. Awesome job

:laughing7: It just might be in the blood, I just hope I can find half the cool stuff he has found over the years!

Wow! What a haul!!
Love that beautiful Matron head, Thought I had been doing well, I never dug a pile like that! Keep it up !! Herbie.

thanks Herbie, all I can say is stick with it. One spot can make a huge difference. This one spot has now given me my first indian, ring, large cent, silver bracelet, 100 coin day and mercury dime. I lose patience easily, but this spot has shown me that perseverance does pay off :icon_thumright:

Holy cow, what a haul! I have never been able to find the numbers at one place like that... Good job! Always great to get out and hunt with family and friends also. HH and good luck!
