Western Union Button-need info

My 13yr old step daughter found this using her moms detector and was hoping to get more information. Any help is much appreciated. There's no back.

Most "buttons" which show a railroad STEAM-ENGINE locomotive (like we see on yours) are actually a "rivet-button" from Trainmen's coveralls/overalls, and date from the latter-1800s through the very-early 20th Century. (After that time, railroad locomotives switched from having a steam engine to diesel engines.)

You did not tell us the button's size, which is important information needed for CERTAINTY in identifying some types of buttons. Most Trainmen's coveralls/overalls rivetbuttons are between 5/8" and 3/4" in diameter.
