Hey All,

Stumbled on this site and it is by far the best MD website I've come across. I've learned a lot here and I haven't even purchased my first MD. I read through some of the forum posts relating to the 2 MD's I'm looking at and it's clear what 99% of the people here would say. Im deciding between the BH Quick Draw 2 and the Garrett Ace 250. I realize these are entry level detectors and not what some would call "loaded" but these are the two that felt right in my hand and seemed to have the most features for the money. Everyone says to go with the Garrett. Is this because the BH is trash or is there just such a large following of Garrett users that the opinions will always lean that way?
Also, is MD just a fair weather hobby? We have some snow on the ground and I'm sure it's solid underneath so what does everyone do when the ground is frozen? Do I just have to make my purchase and dream until April?
Thanks,
Chris

Welcome to T-Net Marvin. :icon_thumright:

Try posting your questions in "Everything Else" or "General Discussion" as those boards see a lot more activity than this one. Of course, you may get more opinions than you bargained for then. :laughing9:

the F2 or delta 4000 -- have a numbers type of display --rather than the "block' ttype display on the 250 and the bounty hunter QD2 type --this allows for much finer sorting of found objects by the detector ---- stop and think a few blocks vs 100 numbers --which one do you think will sort things out to a better degree? --better ID ing means less trash digging and thus more enjoyible and better finds overall most likely.

Thanks,

I dig (actually chisel is more like it) in this stuff for a living. For MDing, I wait til April.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice. I went with the Ace 250 and am now waiting for better weather. I think by the time the ground thaws I'll have waved 1000 different items in front of the 250 sitting on the table.
