I went to a field that I have hunted numerous times before. I used my Fisher F75-LTD. This field used to be the home of a blacksmith's shop, an old home, and several out buildings. One was used for canning. They have all been bulldozed down. Good finds could be anywhere from one inch down to twelve inches deep. There is so much iron trash that with every swing of the coil I pick up iron. I usually try to get the good signals around the iron, but Friday I thought I would dig some of the iron targets. It was really cold, about 28 degrees, so I only hunted for less than an hour. I found piece of play money that has "Western Stamping Company" on it. Most of the iron items were very shallow. After I dug the round lid, I filled in the hole and ran my coil back over it. I got a good signal. I opened up the hole again and dug a little deeper and out popped a 1963 Franklin half-dollar. I also found a ring that has a green stone in it. I think it is probably costume jewelry. We got between 8 and 10 inches of snow between Friday night and Saturday morning. Thanks for looking.

Awesome finds! I'll bet you're glad you got out before all that snow hit.

Please check your second to last sentence for an extremely unfortunate typographic error.

Nice finds, Congratulations on the Franklin, looks like a nice little ring too.

Take some Amoxicillin and get that cleared up so you can go out again.

Your iron targets are way cooler than my square nail plantations.

Nice pull with the Franklin.

AWESOME!! Still searching for my first franklin. good luck next hunt!!

Great job on the finds man. Congrats on that 1/2 dollar. I still have found one of those. :-\
Speaking of rusty relics, did Q go with you or was he home milking the chickens? :tongue3: :laughing9:
Beautiful scenery pictures. Now I know where to go for a dip this summer.

You and Modern Miner can be Sanford and Son. That's a nice Franklin and you found more tools than a Sears Store. That fork is CW period because it has only 2 prongs. You got more snow there than we did. I'm glad we went relic hunting last Wednesday. If the forecast holds up, we can get out in three days and I'm ready to go! Nice finds!!

Very awsome and interesting finds Dman. (whispering in your ear) Dman rule of thumb is to always recheck the hole and dirt pile before you fill it in. Tho as cold as you said it was, that will make you forget and want to hurry and move on to keep warm.

Nice Franklin! Iron is tricky stuff. I've heard folks tell me that they can pick the goodies out from around the iron before. I don't buy it. Even that large hunk of silver in the hole probably gave an iron overload with that iron in with it. That's why I dig out the iron. Because I've been shocked by the great finds I've dug in the past that were totally masked by iron.

Nice work, my friend.

Buckles, I started taking this good advice of yours a year ago and have been rewarded with some nice finds that would have been overlooked. The best find was an 1811 large cent found among a bunch of square nails. Many thanks!

Nice hunting Dman, Congrats on the Franklin!

I hope to dig a Franklin some day. I always swing over the holes I dig, but sometimes I cover
em' up first too.

Good luck,
HH.
