Went to a spot a few hours from home so had to be picky for my 3-hour hunt. First Freemasonry find.

Detecting near a late 1800s-early 1900s poor farm and I found my first Masonic relic. "One Penny," "Dum Tacet Clamat."

Latin for: "Though silent, he speaks."

A Woodmen of the World token.

Nice finds. Thanks for sharing. I’m a little confused though. Are you saying the Woodmen are Masonic? They are not. They are somehow considered a fraternal Insurance organization. They have no Masonic affiliation, although men can belong to both separately.

Correct. Fraternal, but not Masonic although they adopted all kinds of bizarre pseudo-Masonic rituals. They had something called a 'coin test' as one of their rituals, which I commented on here:

That may well be correct. I only did a quick preliminary search and I may have conflated the group with another one. Thanks for the heads-up.
