A CIVIL WAR BUTTON!!!!
I found this button at my sweet spot a while back and thought it was a more modern button just by the way it shined. Unfortunatley it is smashed in on the top but I could make out the word "EXCELSIOR" towards the edge of it and a row of stars going into and out of that word. Well I wanted to just take out this button and do a search on it. SO I hit google with the search of "excelsior button" and sure enough I was getting hits on NY Excelsior cuff button from the Civil War! Well I found one site that had a pretty close up pic of it and sure enough, that is what I have. I would not have expected to find Civil War artifacts by me, but I know there are some soldiers buried in the local cemetary near me. Anyway the first 3 pics are my button and the last one is the one that I found on the 'net.
