Went to the field which gave up only 19 century stuff before, and spent 1.5 hours just digging rabbish. But then I found "something round_ but it was already dark, so I put it in the pocket to look at at home. There I realized that I found a relic from first half of 4th century - a coin with imperator Constantin I. Such coins were issued from 315 to 320s.

W :oW! That's a wonderful find, Sand!! How far down was it? I was just wondering what it's made out of. Looks like it has teeth marks in it. ;D

Dad-Gum Nice, for sure! I'd pass out if I found something that old.

it was only 10 cm deep. It is not surprizing - the field is tilled up to 4 times every year.

Can not say any about material yet - it is covered by thick patina, but looks like copper-bearing metal

congrats on a incredible find what country did you find that in. we don't have coins like that on this side off the pond

Finally - metal is bronze.

I detect almost 1 year in Germany but it is the first so old find. And normally 1800s coins make me happy :)

Very nice find Sand! Nice condition for a field find. It is a bronze coin for sure. Just curious where you are detecting, obviously south of the Limes, LOL! HH, Mike
