My buddy & I went back to the woods to the place I got that gold pocket watch a few weeks back. It was a hot one today, at 34C/93F (at least for this cowboy)so we only lasted a little more then a couple of hours. I did get some loot, but no silver.

Digging up some metal signals got us some glass bottles. Although not very old, the bottle I took home is just full of flaws, making it somewhat valuable and a great conversation piece. The bottom was dated 1955.....JL & CLC. I'll try some research to see if there is some info on it later on when I have some more time.

This find gave me a bit of a nitro......I had visions of paper money, gold coins, silver but it was just an old cigarette case.

I was lucky though to find 8 more COKE plastic caps, good for another 4,000 points towards something free. Someone last year on one of the forums got enough points for a free camera.

Those empty boxes are a killer. I remember one time I was detecting in West Virginia at an old home site and got a solid hit. Started digging and hit a lead jar lid. I thought "jackpot!! Somebody buried a cache!"

Started excavating more slowly and came to glass. Even better.

Then the glass stopped.

Turns out it was just an old busted jar that somehow ended up right side up in the dirt.

Treasure hutning can be so cruel sometimes. :'(

Welldone!
I have a quick question.... Do bottles set the detector off or is it something near them?

Cheers
Dan

It's the metal targets nearby. Getting the bottles is luck!
