Well now, that didn't take long!

I went back to the 1850's place I was at yesterday but did a side hunt. I had forgotten that this park once had a beach so I spent some time testing my AT-PRO on the dry sand there. Wanted to see how it handled sand. My goodness! Was it deep! I got a few clad coins that had been missed by the many, many other detectorists that I KNOW has hit this place.

They were very deep in the sand. 6 to 9 inches! This machine still picked up on them. I even got 2 wheat cents that were BELOW the sand in the base clay they built this beach on! Maybe 10 inches? So I am very pleased.

But, that's not the star of the show. I don't know how old a drop this was but my brand new AT-PRO has already been baptized. AND, it found gold BEFORE it has found silver! How cool is that? LOL

Actually, in one direction 65 in another 53. I was pretty sure it was a pulltab.

Yeah, the picture doesn't really show the size of this ring. That was the first thing that stood out for me. Just how big it was and how heavy it felt. Not just a slip of a ring for sure.

Oh my! Don't discount the importance of the silver! Sure, would be rather nice to only dig gold rings, gold coins, gold pulltabs, etc. A pipe dream, but nice. I'd enjoy digging a 3 cent piece more than any gold wedding band.
