have a friend that just had to buy this...certified too!!! He has the most complete US collection you have ever seen... year, mint, accepted varieties, even silver liberties... he is working on the gold at the moment, but unlike his others, won't go past back beyond cornet. no he does not have an 1804, don't be cheeky Don...

but his wife stumbled upon this one day, (nice to have a wing-man) so to speak,,,

Could someone explain what a "Cheerios" penny is? :dontknow:

swear to god.... they put them in a sealed package as a prize in a box of cheerios.... did some dollars too.... look it up!

I have one of the Cheerios cents still in the cheerios packaging somewhere. When the Sacagawea dollars first came out, every box of Cheerios came with a coin in the box, most were cents but a few came with one of the new dollar coins. The dollars were early strikes and the detail on the eagle's tail had more detail so the "Cheerios" variety dollar was so named.

The dollar coins from Cheerios had slightly different tail feathers. Are the pennies different somehow?

i don't think so...it is the original packaging that makes them so great, i guess
