Hello all from south central Pennsylvania. Just got my first metal detector for Christmas!! Am looking forward to getting out and using it in warmer times. I have been out with it, but sadly the ground is a little frozen right now, so it is tough to dig. Would like to find a club to join or find someone in the area to hunt with.

Hey now!
New guy, in Long Beach Cali. almost ready to start another hobby. Few days research on the net, including here, and I have some stuff coming in the mail...
Always wanted to try it as a kid, and now as a grown up kid, I am going to check it out!
Looking forward to learning and sharing with the TN community.

I'm new to this site and new to MT bought an MTX ans see what happens here in Southeast
Louisiana .

Hi all, im happy to find this site, thank you for allowing me to join. My love for treasure hunting is deep rooted, my dad was an passionate hunter. Most of his hunts were incorporated around a family outing. Most of my fondest memories of childhood include these outings, my mom would pack up the most delicious dinners ( in aluminum stackers) my dad would strap on his holster and gun and we would head out into the woods. We spent a lot of time in Lewis Co, Ky on the Kinniconick creek. My sister has been detecting a little over the last couple of years, she talked me into going this weekend. I am hooked. I just purchased a Garett Ace 250, I hope it's pretty good for a beginner. Im looking forward to learning all about it. Anyone have any tips? Thanks!

HI,Crabby is my name ,just want to say ,I love this web site.Everyone is so helpful.

Hi. I've never written on a site like this, so I hope I am doing this correctly!!! I am from Utah. Am going to purchase a MD in the next couple of days... can NOT wait to go hunting. Anything that would help me out as a newbie is very much appreciated! I read where someone said to do little holes and replace the dirt and grass back into the hole. So thanks for that advice. I've also watched Youtube and that has also helped to figure out how to detect. Does anyone know what the rules/laws are for ghost towns? Thanks!!!

Dear Sand Gnat ll.
I read where you were not too happy with your first detector? What kind did you buy? I haven't purchased one yet and am looking into all brands. I need one fairly simple and also lightweight. I'm also
not too computer smart so I would rather have a simple machine but not bottom of line. Maybe $200.00 range? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!

Greetings all! The wife & kids got me an MXT for xmas & boy was I surprised! We had a little warm spell & I got out a few times & found a child's ring, a bunch of clad, a complete log chain with hooks on both ends, a 1940's fuel pump with glass bowl still intact, some other car parts & a whole bunch of iron & aluminum bits. Even if I don't find anything worth keeping it doesn't matter, because I am outside breathing fresh air, getting exercise & having fun! I have already learned alot from this site & hope to learn more. Thanks to everyone for sharing & I hope I get to chat with some of you!

Hello all from Russia. I am glad to join the same purposeful people what to learn something new and to share that I know. As though in the program of the international exchange of experience: Hello2:

Hello all! Im retired and bored to death so decided Id try treasure and coin detecting to get me out of the house. I just bought my 1st metal detector yesterday. I chose the Garrett 250.I dont expect to get rich but in my thoughts Id like to find enough coins and rings and things to get my money back eventually. I live in Missouri near Fort Leanordwood. Any and all tips on places in my neck of the woods would be greatly appreciated.

Newbie from Central Washington

Hi all - looking forward to getting to know some of you and trying to absorb what you have to share. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Most of my "outdoor" treasure finds are from miner's camp sites or from homestead sites abandoned long ago by the early settlers of this valley, and my "indoor" treasure finds, as I class them, are what I run across in old musty garages, 2nd hand stores and old barns I've been given permission to search. I'll never get rich at it, but I've met some terrific people when I've been out searching and formed some very long lasting friendships. I'd love to get my grandkids interested in my hobby, but sadly, that doesn't seem likely. Anyway, here's hoping that I can be a useful and contributing member of the forum.

Hi all! Guess this is where I should've started. I am a returning newbie. Took a break for a few years, but ready to get back into it. Grew up in Annapolis, MD, but I've lived in Alexandria, VA for past 25 years. Getting my long-broken XLT repaired and looking forward to getting back out there.

also . . .just wondering if I goofed by "replying" to the "Post an Introduction Thread," instead of actually starting a new thread. Looks like I'm not alone, if I did! :laughing7:
