Hi. My name is Jason, and I just got into this interesting and fun hobby. I only do coin collecting at this time, but later on in a few years once I have a better knowledge and a bit of experience I may get into other treasure hunting things but I am open to doing other things occasionally to see how everything works. I am a guy who like to do fun things such as hike, bike, read, garden, learn new things(some of which I try), work hard, and now collect coins. I also used to geocache so I can actually say I have a little bit of prior experience with treasure hunting. I am wanting to learn more about this fun hobby and welcome any input I can get. I do want to say up front that I have heard that you can possibly do coin collecting, buying and selling to make a little bit of money sometimes and I do want to learn how to if possible, even if it is only a little bit and only occasional. I don't make a lot of money currently but hopefully in the future I will, and I want to learn if it is possible and how to do it while still keeping it light and fun with out ticking anybody off because I am ruining their fun. I hope to learn many useful things here from anybody that can and is willing to teach and help me, hopefully make some friends along the way, and in return reciprocate the generosity. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. I will post and update as needed my finds on here for any curious eyes soon.

Welcome to all the (other) newcomers.
I was in it for a while - - dropped out in 2012, and now back in the game.

Just got a load of the Minelab Equinox 800! ( Drooling!!! )

Well, Christmas is coming!

Hello my name is Talia. I'm from Manitoba Canada! Just getting into the hobby of metal detecting, but the season here will be coming to an end shortly..

I love it so far. I found a few mystery items that I'm hoping to have help identifying via these forums.

Hello Folks,
I am Matt from Cypress Tx. Started metal detecting in Dec 2018 with my brothers Radio Shack detector. Bought a Garrett Ace 400. I am lucky to have some land that has had several old homesteads on it. Nothing there now but buried relics. Learning a lot about history when digging up things from the past. Already had some great help from folks on this site.

Hello, everyone. I am newly registered member. After my dad passed away in 2012, I began going through some of his things. Amongst all of his stuff, I found a new Pioneer Bounty Hunter 505 detector (I could tell he had used it only once or twice). I beeped around with it here and there for a few years, but never really got serious. Earlier this year, I decided to upgrade to a Garrett AT Pro, and get a little more into it. A few days ago, I found a civil war era sword hangar, which was my coolest find ever. What can I say? Now I have the fever!! I look forward to learning from the accumulated experience I have seen on this site. Who knows, I might even be able contribute a little! Lol!

Hello all,
I am 62 years old and have been wanting to do this for a long time.
Now that I have moved to NC I am ready to try panning.
Planning on going to Uwharrie NF for a weekend to give it a try.
Before I go I would like to know what kind of equipment I need.
I know absolutely nothing about this starting out.
Any advice would be better than nothing. Never too old to learn !

Hello folks. Finally joined the Treasurenet forum. I'm in Orlando but travel for most all my relic hunting. Virginia and Maryland are my favorite spots to detect. Also England is at least once a year for the last 10 years. I've actually been there 13 times. My 3 go to machines are the White's V3i, the Fisher CZ21 and the Minelab CTX 3030. I have a YouTube site and a website that you can find both under my name FloridaRob. I show almost all my finds on my site. I'm also passionate about collecting metal detecting club patches and dealer patches. Looking for one from every club especially the older ones from years past. Glad to buy them or trade other patches for them. Please help grow my collection. Thank you. FloridaRob

Howdy. I found the site by accident, trying to google a knife I've had forever, to see if I could figure out who it's made by. So far, no luck in finding the design shape on the bone part of the knife. Anyway... no treasure there, but it's probably close to 50 or 60 years old. Beat all to heck, as I used it a lot at work... as a hammer for small things.... yeah... duh. But hey... I was still young, dumb and still thinking I was good looking.

Anyway... glad I found the site. So far, some of the stuff I've read has been interesting and promises to make for a lot of interesting reading.
