Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Forum:Illinois for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Hi, I'm Jim.

I'm new to treasure hunting and prospecting. Probably going to keep it casual. I'm interested in gold prospecting and mildly interested in other treasure hunting. Other interests include, in random order, Reading, Writing, Making Board Games, Gardening, Farming, Shooting, Operating Equipment, Sawmilling, History, Aviation, Travel, and the Bible. My wife and I have 7 kids, and I hope to have some fun prospecting with them in the time to come. Meanwhile, I'm a little more likely to dig up potatoes than anything else. :)

Welcome! You have a lot of interests to keep you busy. Good luck in your prospecting..lI’ve never tried that...

Hello all. I'm relatively new to all this. I actually just started looking at rocks about 2 yrs ago and have found some pretty cool stuff even tho I have taken a lot of stuff from a lot of people for being semi-obsessed with my new found hobby. I can't believe what people step on and don't see. Lol.. Anyways, a lot of times I read threads on this site to try and understand more about what I'm finding and thought it was time I joined the conversation. I'm in heavy glacial till so the ordinary rules of geology don't always seem to apply.

Hi all! Not new to Treasurenet, just changed my username and pic. Glad to be back! I am still metal detecting and I am also an armchair searcher. Currently working on Forrest Fenn’s TTOTC and Fandango. Also, got an email yesterday and I have solved 2/4 clues in the Hunt #3 Google Hunt created by MartinS. I recently found a 1990 Class Ring in Excellent condition while metal detecting. My research determined the owner was deceased. I contacted the owner’s mother and she did not want the ring back. I sold it for $75. Sad story...

Hi, I am a new here. My main interest is ancient roman coins. Would be happy to meet persons with same hobby.

New Member, Old Digger

Just signed up today. I've enjoyed reading about new finds, and learning a thing or two. I've been retired from detecting for about 10 years - found it difficult to get up and down after three knee surgeries. Bought a White's Spectra v3 right about then, and probably didn't use it more than a half a dozen times. Found hundreds of coins, buttons, and artifacts with older White's machines in the 1980's and 1990's. My section of NY/PA wasn't settled before about 1800, but the Sullivan & Clinton campaign passed through during the Rev War and we found many drops, colonial coins, and interesting buttons from those days near where the Chenango & Susquehanna rivers converge. I'd love to get back into it but not sure if it is a good idea or not - wow that would take some doing, health-wise. I consider my best find to be a Butler's Rangers button, partial, but legible. I'm interested in hearing about whether or not the Spectra v3 is worth keeping, or if the upgrades in more modern machines are so significant that one should spend money on them. Thank you!
