The problem is not with my phone. If you will recall, this conversation started due to the pop up prompt I started getting on every page that was attempting to download an App. If my phone was set to auto download I would never have got the prompt, it would have just downloaded.

Apparently, when I went to a different browser on my phone (Chrome), it bypassed the filters and downloaded itself without my knowledge. Suspecting an advertising cookie might be the culprit for the pop up prompt I had been getting on Firefox I disabled third party cookies and thought I had fixed it, as you can see from my replies, but it was too late as I later discovered the App had already installed itself on my phone. After uninstalling it I then switched to desktop and discovered the redirect on the website itself.

To be frank, I've explained all this previously in my replies but you've continued to miss the point. The Treasurenet.com Website is now Redirecting to an App Install. Even on desktop. You just admitted that you and VPNavy both see it yourselves.

The problem is not ME .... it's Treasurenet.

Unfortunately, placing responsibility for a crime on the victim instead of the perpetrator seems to have become the norm in today's social climate. SMH

I reckon it's time for this old coot to move on while I still have two good brain cells to rub together.

I am agreeing with you. It is the Treasurenet App.

What I'm asking you is what version of OS your phone runs and what version of browser.

I am asking this so I can research the issue and hopefully provide a fix. The fix might be something we change on on our website.

Without that basic information I cannot troubleshoot the problem.

I've actually disabled the web app on our site until we can figure this out. Are you still getting the pop up?

Personally it seems confusing compared to the tried and true "like". heh

I mean its not a game or something where points are a goal / matter.

Since there is more than one option besides Like on there they have to use a generic term. I like this way better, it has more options and more flexibility. In fact, we'll probably put a custom reaction in there to nominate the banner finds...

I'm not missing the point, as I mention I found it there as pending on my mobile and laptop but either were installed on my mobile or on my laptop, they were pending. I have both laptop and mobile set to not do auto install on apps, they have to get my permission. If it was installed on your then you must have it set for auto install. VPNavy found it the same way, pending install, NOT installed.

You are correct. The app has no auto install option. It's a progressive web app, that's a standard. You can learn more about it here:

Here's more information on it and the standard. The browser can show you there's an app available for the site but it definitely cannot auto install it. That's not supported by the standard and would be very bad mobile practice if devices even supported it.

The edit feature has a time limit of 10 days set now. It is set that way because some times in the past a member would get mad about something and start wholesale deleting all their posts which many times destroys a thread

Post can be edited for 10 days, after that only a mod can edit the post.
 

I think the new look is great, very fresh and updated looking. The only issue I'm having is my avatar is blurry, oversized and misaligned. It's not that big of an issue though. I uploaded that a very long time ago, I'm not sure if I even have the original file to reupload it. I can always find another one. Other than that you guys have worked hard and looks great.

If you find the original and re-upload it, it should come out better. You can line it up however you want as well if you re-upload it.

Site is really coming together... looking good admins... great job and punctual responses to requests and problems.

So far so good anyway.............. :)

I miss my picture at the top of every page though.

In addition the old software did not support encrypted connections (HTTPS) nor many new technologies that make the site both more secure and much faster to browse.

The site is running on new hardware and with the software updates you should notice the website is MUCH faster. It also works very well from mobile, which the old software did not at all.


Automatic Thread Thumbnails / Added 9/29/2021 @ 12:30pm
We've added the ability for the software to automatically add a thumbnail to the thread based on the attachments in the thread. By default it will choose the first image you upload. It replaces your avatar with the thumbnail on the thread list. When you are making your thread you can also select which thumbnail image to use, and after you post you can also update the thumbnail on the thread view page by clicking the image/your avatar and looking for the pencil/edit icon and clicking on it. We can enable this for all forums, think we might put that up for a vote once people get a bit more used to it.
