weird rock/fossil/I don't what the heck it is

I went to the river yesterday and instead of finding any points or other relics I found this weird little rock covered with lines. I thought it was a broken piece of something at first but it doesn't look broken anywhere. It is very smooth all the way around. If anyone has seen this before or knows what it is I would really like to know. I found it in a river bed in NW Missouri. Thanks and HH.

Do you have any metal Foundry's up river?
We get all kinds of wierd looking rocks, some like this due to a Steel Foundry up river from us.

I'm guessing a crushed sponge or coral of some type? Cool, no doubt about that.

There is a Fossil section down below that may have better schmartz about such things.

No, there isn't anything upstream like that...it is a pretty small river.

As posted in "Fossils"...

I believe that it's probably a natural concretion, or pseudofossil, rather than a true fossil. It reminds me of this septarian nodule— again, a concretion, not a fossil— resembling a turtle.

Probably just some stone and silt that was fused together eons ago and was worn smooth by flowing water. One of my past times is walking small streams and creeks, looking for geodes, and I come across all kinds of weird anomalies like that.
Just mother nature doing her art work.

I think it is a treasure map of some sort. See there are some arrows pointing in directions all over it

Savant... I got several tons of Missouri River rock for some landscaping. I noticed a couple of pieces like what you have. What it is, I don't know. When I first saw it I thought it was dried up tar, but it wasn't.

I have to say man made object that look a run down the river and was rounded off eventfully.Cobbler stone looking.
