If it is copper than perhaps it could be cleaned up a bit more to reveal some more detail...
I think there is some recipes on here with some quick home electrolysis... not true electrolysis but effective for small items. Somthing like 2 cups hot, not boiling water on a stove top. 2 tablespoons salt, tablespoon of Calgon water softener and a ball of tinfoil... some others have baking soda... good luck

Mah Jong tile perhaps?
Thanks Ben, I started googling copper Mahjong tiles, so far haven'y had much look, but that is definitely a good lead. I hate not knowing what something is, and these days I just assume everything can be found in a google search!

Is there a small rectangular hole in the middle, filled with dirt in the photo? If so, maybe it's a lock plate.

I think that might be needed to get the alien spaceship back online. It looks like an alien on the front of the piece. Watch out for strange things happening around you...:laughing7:

No, there is no hole, but Thanks! there does look like something was attached to the back and broke off.

Maybe you could turn it several ways, thenput a flashlight where it casts small shadows where we can make out more detail?

For some reason I think i see chinese writing on it?
