Ok, so I've shown this to a few people adults who were born and raised in China. They didn't have a clue. Some of them are more interested to learn what this thing is more than I am.

These are uncropped, unaltered pictures. I wanted to make sure you saw them exactly as I see it.

It's kind of like a matryoshka, everything fits inside everything else.

The second largest box is actually just two pieces sitting next to each other.

Coffee and cake to whomever can accurately identify and valuate this thing!

What I meant was how is it that you came across that particular vase in a search.

There are a couple dozen regular researchers on this forum. Each of us has a unique perspective and research style. Sometimes it's a joint effort. Sometimes one of us gets lucky or recognizes a relic from experience and can make an ID alone.

I got lucky and found a vase with that matched your relic. It happens like that sometimes...

could your boxes be a record/reference and or used as stamps
for Chinese porcelain marks
maybe you can check this site to your boxes marks, i looked at the
vase and some of the marks at the site, but after a few minutes
it all starts looking alike

If I had just one mark, I might be able to match it to a manufacturer. However, eleven (at least) of my box match that vase, so I think that's whole other thing than the page you linked to. I was going to email them about the box, thinking they maybe they know something, but they want twenty dollars per consultation.

notice too it is not just the characters that match but the size of the stamps too....so this item seems to be some sort of standard pottery stamp...

If the box sitting on my desk is some two hundred fifty years old, that would be very, very, par for the course. We routinely come across items that are that old, or older, in the stuff that this came from. We just recently dug out some original continental paper currency from 1777. We found a relic from Anthony of Padua, aka Anthony of Lisbon, who lived 1195-1231.

Very old isn't an issue with this stuff. Figuring out what it is, figuring out what it's worth, and then selling it. That's the hard part.

Thanks for that! But it's kind of the same thing as before. That's for an item with a single stamp or mark. The first vase that you found is covered with marks, and eleven of them match. What does it all mean? [ how very existential of me :) ]
