Does anyone have any idea what this thing is? It's made of some kind of metal. He sits on a metal cup with his mouth wide open and he also has a hole in his rear which could empty into the little cup :tard: The whole thing stands about 7 inches tall. It used to have paint on it but it's all worn off except on the bottom of the cup. I can make out the words National ProXXXXXng and Chicago Ill. Anyone know?

I can't believe someone figured this one out. Great job One Mans Trash!! What words did you use for your search? Ugly little fat man? Metal big mouth baby? What? I have to know. :tard:

Search terms for Yahoo were:

bank antique "national products"

Second in the results was: http://www.maltergalleries.com/archives/auction05/oct2005/oct_2005.html

No year given. There's often not that much known about dates of these things with a big outfit like National. Sometimes, you have to find someone who remembers getting one or a story about someone who got one. Not that many people would leave this thing out as a conversation piece. I suspect not many survived with both parts together. I suppose the company must have lasted until at least 1949, since there's a case toy truck of that year model around by them. The description of that one says National Products was a division of Banthrico Industries. I see Banthrico bought National in 1940 and continued to use the National name on products until 1951. I see some references that suggest Banthrico was around until not too long ago, but Banthrico.com is an empty server right now.

Commonly known as Gargoyle (functional statue) Like the ones used on old buildings to ward off evil spirits unlike it's counterpart Grotesque statues that do nothing! just look ugly! You've got to admit though he has the expression as if he has had some bad "sushi"
