Weekend Silver

I managed to get out a little bit this weekend. It was very hot and dry.

I have been trying a new "Wheatie Program" on the Deus. I am a genius, the program works like a charm. I have never had so much luck finding wheat cents.

Saturday:
I hit a couple of different public spots. I was able to find 5 Wheaties and the top of a ring. It is silver and jade. The stone glows when you hold it up to the sunlight.

Sunday:
I went on ANOTHER of Todd Lipe's "guaranteed to find silver coins" hunts, and again I was not disappointed. Todd used his silver compass to locate a place where the silver coins were literally covering the ground. I didn't want to seem greedy so only dug one Merc, however I did help myself to 9 Wheaties. I also found a little medal badge of unknown significance, if you recognize it, let me know, a mill marble and a clufflink with a "B" on it. I tried to make it into a gold cufflink like Testing123 found, but no such luck.

Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts!

Glad your new program is putting a grin on your face. Wheats are my favorite indicator so I'm glad they steered you in the right direction too. Last, great silver coin.

I'm writing a new program myself for the CTX called "Iron curtain". I'm designing it to find cut through iron infested ground. It's also designed to sniff silver in a way I think is effective. I haven't tried it yet but hearing about your Wheatie Program makes me want to!

It "was" a ring. The actual ring part was broken off, so all that I found was the top of the ring. Here is a pic of the back, you can see where the loop used to be attached.

Thanks for IDing marcasite for me. I learned something new today!

Thanks for posting up a better picture of the back, reason for the pin/brooch is the the right hand side is square (hinge side)and the other side is round (clasp)so attached pin would fit this pattern.

Very nice silver, jade/marcasite ring piece! Good score on the silver finds and wheats! Congrats! Nice haul!

Hey Tom, does that line about "not being greedy" work if you didn't find any at all or just if you find one? I may use it!
My new setting if for surface plastic, works great!
Could the badge be the top part of the cuff link? In the right kind of light it will appear gold in the pic....we won't say how I know this. :laughing7:

Wasn't kidding about the compass, just about Tom taking it.

My thinking was that it is too small and heavy to be a brooch. Part of the loop's attachment was left on one side, and was completely broken off of the other side. That is why I think that they look differently. Also, and this was the clincher for me, the thing is not marked, no "sterling", no "925"... obviously it is silver, so I figured that the mark was on the loop part that is missing.

If it were a brooch, the attachment pin would run the long way, so as to give it more support. With such a short pin, the top would flop down.

I sincerely appreciate the input, and your argument is quite concise and cogent, however, my head is extremely hard!

Please feel free to use any of the lies that I use. I stold them from someone else, so help yourself!

The little badge was found at different site. It is thin and stamped... I am certain that it is off of someone's tennis shoe or something cheesy like that, but it had a little shield and crown, and I just liked it!

That is a very nice Silver & jade piece, You got a Merc to ! & W Cents are always Welcome.

Hey Tom great hunt there!
Man that pin is gorgeous!
I miss my hunting partner...
Nobody here to go to the privy with..lol

Great digs CT. I see you have that new Wheatie program dialed in. Neat little collection of finds sure beats the 420 pull tabs I collected for earth day. Man another mill marble for you too.

Thanks tylerbdad for getting all those Pull-tabs out of the ground.
Also thanks for ditching that "Mustache" Avatar , Something about it ???.LOL

When you dig that many tabs , GOLD is right around the Corner, (I Hope).

Unless I see something good posted by Captain Silver Britches I'm going to have to assume you put another butt whoopin on him AGAIN! Good job on yet another summer silver Three Tone Tom.

Man I don't want Any Gold. It would just raise my tax bracket.

That stone is just amazing!!! Great looking finds again. :occasion14:

Uh oh...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but....! During this " Mother of all Slumps ", my last 4 hunts or so, a wheat was my first coin find for each hunt. NO silver, and I was trying VERY hard to be greedy. I was not going to leave any for anyone! You can say bad things if you want, but I think Chris has enough for the entire year! I like you Tom, so just do yourself a favor and scrap that Wheatie program!

Good point on the flop down never thought of that, nothing wrong with a strong head Tom.
