Those are likely from hot sauce bottles. Due to no refrigeration 100+ years ago meat was almost always unpalatable without some kind of strong spices. North of England Sauce, Lea & Perrins, A1, etc. account for some of the most numerous antique bottles found in 100+ year old dumps and those glass stoppers of theirs can be found almost anywhere someone has had a picnic or eaten meat of some kind. They're like the pull tabs of the 19th century. Below is pictured some of these bottles, in the past they would have had a cylindrical cork insert in their tops where the glass stopper would have formed the seal.Good one.
