Weekend finds...Picker's tokens +
Had about 2 hours to spare on Sat. afternoon so I thought I'd do a little detecting. Went to a nearby town (very old) and asked permission at this old house I saw. The guy was very nice and let me detect his backyard (said he was working on his front yard). The really nice thing was that the guy was very knowledgeable of the town history and gave me some great leads. Anyway, I got to swinging and came up with a couple of nice finds. My first find was the silver Rosie (59) about 6" down on its side. I was surprised that the ACE picked this up. I got very excited when I saw the silver and the reeded edge (the house was built in the 1700's, but was a little disappointed when it was only a rosie at that depth. Anyway, I ended up finding a couple of "Picker's tokens", I wasn't sure what they were, but the homeowner knew. Apparently, when vegetable pickers used to pick veggie's they would turn each basket in for a token and such. I did a little research on google about them, but if anyone has anymore info I would appreciate it. I almost forgot to mention that I also found a top anticor safety razor (in top of pick). It has pat. Jan 31 1911 written on it.
