Hey guys. I stopped by a couple parks yesterday to try to reach my old coin quota. I was skunked at the first park, which is by far the oldest one I detected yesterday. That park is absolutely full of trash. I need to go back when I have the patience, at that time, I didn't, and felt like I was wasting time. I only pulled a few clad out of there.

The second park I went to gave up a couple wheats, 1936 and 1956 D, as well as a huge ring that I swore was silver coming out of the hole, but it ended up being that pewter-type metal instead. Oh well.

This morning I concentrated on a park that I never really gave a chance. Within the first half hour, I dug a nice 1937 Mercury dime at 7 inches. It's funny because I was beginning to wonder why I hadn't dug a silver dime in such a long time. I started doubting the M6, but it came through today. It gave me a nice repeatable tone on the dime. I also dug four wheats today at that park, 1941 S, 1948, 1956 D, and 1957 D. Clad total for the weekend is $12.64.

Hope you guys do well today!

Joe

Thanks, Goio.

lol, my measley Merc vs. your cache of coins. Funny.

Great job bud!!!

Yeah, the only consolation is the realization that virtually all of the city parks I've been hunting have been hunted to near death over the last 30 years or so. So...finding an old coin at any of them is pretty good. I can probably hunt one old small house yard and pick up as many wheats and silvers as an entire city park in one day. It's all relative.

No way Joe! I've seen parks hunted to death, and then the dirt gets scraped, and there are HUGE deposits of old coinage just down as close as 6 to 8 inches. All masked to death and hidden. I know I've reached my limits at my nearby parks with my big old deep-seeking coil that keeps some goodies hidden, but bring in Goio and Tman, and they'll be singing silver songs all day long. In places where I've found barber coinage to a foot deep, I'll bet those big DD coils would slay the remains pretty quickly and get great keepers at half that depth. Gotta get me one of them but the Kitchen Funding Committee still rules my wallet.
