Relic Hunting
Dman (The Most interesting Relic Hunter in the World-according to him) and I had the honor to be invited to hunt a very old homesite by Tenn. relic hunting legends and our friends Donnie (Tennessee Digger) and his wife Julia Vaughn. They were featured on the American Digger "Relic Roundup" show last night and it was very enjoyable. Their hunting careers will also be the subject of an AD article written by me to be published during the summer.
We met up with them at an old homesite. Dman lasted about half of the 3 hour hunt. He dug two flat buttons, many iron relics, and a brass piece that Donnie said likely was a decoration piece from the stock of a KY rifle before he quit hunting. Julia dug the brass knob with the nice green patina (coffee grinder part?). Donnie dug 9 buttons and I snapped some good pics of two of them before he pulled them from the dirt. Almost back to their vehicle, I dug a .44 cal. pistol ball cut in half. Do I smell CW relics there too as Donnie dug a couple of pieces of melted lead near the old home ?
No coins but they should be there. It was a lot of fun hunting with them and we plan to make it a frequent event. HH, Quindy.

Great finds you guys. Great pics Quindy. Those flats were right close to the surface weren't they? Way to go!
Mike, they ran from 5-8 inches in fairly neutral soil so no need for a GPX today. Hoping for one of the four of us to dig a coin. HH Bud, Quindy.

Quindy speaks very highly of you and your wife, and says you have quite a sense of humor.

Yes, he does. It's great to see you two! :icon_thumright: Congrats on all the finds!

Nana :hello:
Dman and i have told them all about you Southern Belle-LOL. Maybe the Vaughns can hook up with you, Lisa, and the Trio for a hunt in Southern Tennessee sometime as Donnie knows that area well. Watch out for snow today, Q.

Well done. In my experience there is usually one coin on average to be found at old house sites like that. Really the average is more like 1.5, because we have had some multiple coin sites over the years.

Glad you could get out and enjoy some decent weather.

Best Wishes,

Buckles
I hope you are right BB. I'd take an 8 Reales or the Capped Bust half dime like you & HB dug in KY over your Christmas break-LOL. HH, Q.

We enjoyed getting out with you guys today. I think if we spent all day on that site that we could dig a few real good things. Buttons are soaking now. When we get time, I'll show you another place in that area that I think we could dig something. Enjoyed meeting Doug. He is interesting and a pretty good hunter!! Tennessee digger
Thank you for the kind words. It kills Q when someone says something nice about me even if it is true.LOL It was a real treat to meet you and Julia and I know we will have some more fun in the future.
