Today Cru'Dad & I help another Archie group in the local area do their spoil heap. It only took us 1 hour & I could see they had given it ago as well.
We were not expecting much as the soil was tall & steep, & the Archie had not reported any great findings. However we got;
Crotal Bell
Medieval Buckle Plate
Roman Weight
Bones & teeth
Pot Shards
Glass
Bronze Age Spear Tip.

They were on holiday and trusted us to do it alone, so Land-Mag will hand over the stuff next week.

Hey Cru,

Are the bones found as a matter of digging for the detector hits?

Just out of curiousity, did the archies find them to be human and so interest if so?

The bones are mostly cattle or animal & were just in the spoil heap. I did dig a couple of bits of Roman Pot shards though.

Always great to detect the filled up trenches. Totally different world compared to the movement the plow does to the soil. Great to hear beeing honest comes back to you! Building a good relationship with the Archies may take a while, but it's well rewarded!

Yeap, we now have worked for at least 3 Archie groups.

We have been hibernating with our metal detectors through the winter. But what a thrill to check back on here and see your neverending awesome finds! Well done, Cru and Cru Dad. -Lisa & John

Yes, this Winter season has seen us have the most fields available ever! So many choices!

UPDATE;

Land-Mag handed over all our bagged finds to the Archies. They were worried about their finds log because up-to that point they had only found a 1968 Penny, Nails & 1 Lead Spindal Whorl. They were very pleased with our help.
Land-Mag didn't have the heart to let them it only took us 1 hr to get them.:laughing7:

FURTHER UPDATE;

The Archies wanted us to do the last area near the Church. I was unavailable (Working) but Cru'Dad & Land-Mag had the following results;

''Here are the photos of the finds from a large Spoil heap (just 1) I detected (Early Jetton, farthing, piece of lead, iron spike, piece of Roman pot & bones) – also did their wide trench area (marked a few signals without digging etc). Land-Mag found some lead and a bit of slag on the smaller Spoil heap. One hour in all''

The Jetton looks like a good one, might be a type we haven't got, but those are the sacrifices.
