✅ SOLVED Wax Seal?

Any help will be appreciated. First, I think it's a wax seal. However, I can't read the writing with anything I've got. The center is a shield with counter balance scales (like scales of justice). I tried stamping some wax, but no help. It's from the Lacompte, LA area.It might be wishful thinking, but I think I can see 17-7. Anybody have any experience with computer enhancement of photographs?

I agree too - looks like a Disston.

Thanks everyone. You've put me on the right track I think. Went to the site provided and it looks like what I found.

Disston saws used thos particular saw Stamp from 1896-1917. Thanks for the help.
