I recently read a post on these boards where a guy had devised a method to enclose the ACE250 in a plastic box, making it better protected while hunting in water. I am interested if anyone has devised the same for a Whites DFX or if there are such "waterproof" covers available.

I'm not looking for it to be an underwater machine, just protected while hunting in knee deep water.

Thanx guys

I have had a similar problem but with rain water, allthough I would never risk using it in sea water or any water at all.I have with me a beach hunter id and a Mark 2 for this type of hunting I would recommend dry sand only or earth hunting only it hard inuff to keep rain water off the meter and I use a transparent zip lock to protect it.If you don't have the income to purchase a waterproof unit just tie the transparent bag in a way it will be practical to view the screen and not let this water delema spoil your unit.Hope my insight helps and carefull water damage is a scary issue for my land units I carry extra plastic bags and small towels to clean off water in an emergency if rain catches me off base.Good luck amigo see you in the field.

I have not seen anything along that line. Since all the electronics of the Ace are in a single pod, it wouldn't be too hard to make such a plastic housing. However, the seperate box and instrument pod with switches, wires, and mounting points would make it very difficult, to say the least.
