Warren,mi

No not yet. So far I've stuck around the Sterling Heights area, I work with someone from Warren and she said there's a pretty big park there? I was gonna check it out once (if ever :laughing7:) it warms up.

Eckstein park dates back to the 1800's . mound and red run river. east side of mound

I was born in Detroit, last lived in Livonia and all of Michigan should have some good detecting IF it ever warms up. I recall doing many a winter trip to an old closed dump Hill that was turned into a steaming sled run, great fun, Lots of people would go there and probably still do. Best of success with your research and hunting.........63bkpkr

Your close to some history there, fur trade era for one. Not familiar with metro park as to whether or not detecting allowed but worth a look. rail road had coins put on rails, first hand from a previous warren resident. Some pics show a different community in the past, maybe some still accessible. Good luck.H.H.

Great lakes metal detecting, site has Metro Parks info, looks like a permit is needed. Not sure which ones, lots of info

I think some of the metro parks like kensington require a permit and others don't check at the park. I have a hines park permit from last fall it cost $5 and I found like $4.98. Need the snow to melt so I can get my fee back. At least the sun is out today.

I do! Have been hunting Shaw Park...off Warner. Found all my silver there. Headed to Helmich tomorrow, Bloomer on Tuesday.

sweet i hunted shaw a little while ago. I thought I found a meteorite ,but didn't. It was industrial slag. what section of shaw did you find silver? I went through it but didn't come up with much. but at that time i had a really old detector. thx for the info

I'm from upper Michigan and me and my girlfriend go down that way every so often, most of her family lives around warren and Clinton township but were we usually stay is in the new Baltimore/chesterfield area. anyways theirs a nice sized park in new Baltimore i believe, and its on a road called Jefferson, there's a huge boating dealership by it but that park looks super old as well as other parts of town, i was just wondering since most of you guys live in the area, can you go detecting in the parks or do you need a permit.

HAAA!! ME TOO! There is a lot of NON MAGNETIC slag at Shaw. Grey rocks of various size. Very scaley...you can chip them with your thumb. Makes your detector/pinP scream, but wont hold a magnet. Got a 2 pounder sitting on my desk right now!

I have only hunted in city parks so far. with no permit. as long as the sign does not say no metal detecting I believe your good. metro and state parks you most likely need a permit. the area by Jefferson your talking about has ran through my mind. It is pretty old. gd & hh

There are tons of old schools in Warren and I have hit a lot of them. Parks are all over the place. If you get a AAA map of the streets it will show you all the parks and schools.

i found what i thought was a meteor actually two of them. both will hold a magnet. i sent a picture to a professor at cranbrook and he is the one who told me it was industrial slag.

I read a lot of confusion about to hunt or not to hunt State Parks, on here. I am glad Michigan makes it clear, and encourages our hobby, while enjoying our beautifull State Parks Pure Michigan
