Thanks for posting this. My Great Great Grandfather was at Sharpsburg with his Infantry regiment, the 44th Georgia Volunteer Infantry Co. D. Pvt. William E. Jenkins would receive his first wound from the war here, being shot through the shoulder.

No sir. My Great Great Grandfather died in the home of my Grandfather, his Grandson in 1918. He passed away in Atlanta, Georgia and is buried behind his church in the church cemetery in Ola, Georgia. But this was a coincidence. Most all of my Grandfathers family was from Henry County, Georgia years ago. Jenkins was a pretty common name in this area.

The one above was Probably in the WW1 era if at war, at all.
to have been in the civil War, he would have been in his late 80's when burned.

the Fact they still Called him "private", in 1933, Tells me he was probably under 40
Probably even under 30 When he was killed.
maybe even Their age (mid 20's) since they partied with Him.

My Grandfather William was 75 years old when he passed away. He was born in 1843 and was 19 years old when he enlisted in 1862. He passed away 1n 1918. His headstone on his grave reads: A Good Father, A Christian, and a Confederate Soldier. (Confetrit') as the old vets pronounced it later in years.
