I totally agree it’s an anchor. Now the big question…. When was it made? Thank you for all your help getting this far.

Made before 1896 when the petty officer rank badge changed. I would guess before 1886 when the Navy added classes to the rank. Problem is these are almost all custom made. Each Petty Officer had to have his own made back then. So you won’t find “a perfect match”. I read that these badges could cost a whole months pay. So they were precious to the PO’s.

Ok. I do see an anchor if the bottom is broken off. Someone probably said that prior to my post but I only skimmed the responses.
