Hi guys well Yesterday and today were wonderful days here in Mo. We decided to test the new Teknetics T-2 metal detector at a place we were familiar with Ft. Copper has been available to detectorists for over 20 years and it sure is a fun place to detect... it has been well hit over the years and finds are usually very slow and meager in coming...
I have to say I'm so impressed with the T-2 I cant believe how easy it was to set up and use there.
Most of the finds were 4-6 in. deep we would have found them with any machine but one of the buttons we found was 12. deep it was smaller than a half dime and it rang out loud and clear on the T-2 , we could barely get a signal with my DFX and Minelab on the same target both of those machines had to be tweaked until they were barly stable just to register the button but the T-2 was only at 50% the machine is a relic hunters dream!!
Well we had some really good finds there and we should have continued success with the Teknetics T-2!!!

Steve got a 1781 half reale at 9 in. and I got a 1786 2 reale around the same depth...

We used a Minelab x-terra 50 and ex II, now I didnt say it didnt pick up the button it took some tweaking the units to get them to respond to the button but by the time that was done the T-2 would have found its next 3 targets already...
Also the minelabs were running pretty hot to pick up the button and we got got alot of false signals from them... also the whites DFX, and shadow X5 had to run hot and started falsing... I was quite surprised with the the T-2 as I said I dont think its a replacement detector all the top models today do a heck of a job but it is a good addition to other detectors a person owns.

Main advantage to a Minelab Ex.II, the minelabs are slow machines and rather heavy, the T-2 is a lightweight fast moving machine with equal or as some suggest more depth than the EX II... I'm gonna stay with equal depth for now...1st advantage its 500.00 cheaper than the EX II, 2nd advantage... most of the time while hunting relics a person only has that 1 day to look in a certain area, so in 1 day you can cover far more ground with the T-2 than the EX II .... more ground cover = more finds thats a plain and simple fact. If you have a site with and infanite amount of time to detect the EX II fine then... but when it comes to speed and depth the T-2 will have a hard time being beat!!
