Just got back from vacation and had a blast in upstate ,NY. Secured permission on private property and hunted a War of 1812 camp. What a rush pulling button after button! This place was absolutely mind blowing for us. So many buttons, gun tools, bullet molds, vent pick chains and flash pan brush tubes, musket balls and coins. I was up there in May before this last visit and had the same results. 1st photo is my total finds from this camp. The ground conditions were perfect and pewter buttons and coins came out in amazing condition. Sites like this are once in a lifetime and I will cherish every moment of digging here with great friends!

Oh wow! This is incredible! Like - Holy Cow!! So much history - all at once! I am always in awe of these finds - and I am convinced I will come to be able to find such amazing things locally. Just need to learn how to use the metal detectors that I was gifted.

I grew up in Upstate NY, central part, Rome, NY site of Ft Stanwix and participated in many digs while in HS prior to decent metal detectors. No matter where you step you're steppin' on history! Some of my best finds were without a metal detector, just walking the fields! BTW, which detector and coil did you use? I see you're a Whites guy. Where abouts in upstate NY were you hunting? far north?
Very nice finds! The bust copper is in great condtion for the soil type. I would be interested in knowing the general (not specific) area where u found these treasures.....

This is amazing. I find the War of 1812 to be pretty interesting, my 2nd favorite war/battle.

I live in Northern Virginia and I would love to metal detect around North Point in Maryland to see if I could find anything. I don't think there are too many places around there where you can do that.

How did you get permission? Did you write a letter or speak to them? What exactly did you say?

I don't know where else to post this so I'm posting it here. If there is a better place to post this please let me know.

An interesting story about The War of 1812.

I remember seeing a documentary about the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor from the Patapsco River.

It took place on a rainy night in September. There was a part that mentioned how the citizens of Baltimore would look out of their windows and see the bombs bursting in the air on that rainy night so long ago.

You would think that the citizens of Baltimore would get out of town but instead, apparently they remained in their homes.

Imagine seeing that. That would be quite a thing to see.

again AMAZING FINDS
