Walmart Security really rude!

Here in Connecticut we have a tax on plastic bags so if someone purchases only a few small items and doesn't want to pay the tax on the plastic bag they carry items out in their hand. If you pay the tax and buy a bag you can walk out without being checked. If you carry the items out without a bag they stop you. If you use the self checkout you need to use your card and I'm not using a credit card for a loaf of bread and some milk or whatever so I buy my items elsewhere.

I Would never pay For a bag. At Aldies I Take my Groceries out in the Cart, Or take empty Boxes to use,
As I walk the Isle.

If I Had to pay a Tax on a Plastic Bag, I'd let it blow away in the Parking lot Just for Spite.

NO I Don't Litter & Have a Distaste for it.
But if I had to pay for plastic I'd let it there.
if it was mandatory I'd figure mine to protest with by littering it

I can at least say "double bag it?" here yet

Not much in PA is ............ Never mind ! This isn't the right forum :tongue3:

Sorry, you had to go through that! Not sure how I would react in the same situation.

Not to take away from the OP's thread but....

I'm a supporter of the 2nd amendment. I'm curious to hear your ideas on how they should handle their policy in light of the mass shootings that have taken place in their stores?

I remember a local flea market had an incident about 10 years ago where a customer bought a gun at one booth (when openly displayed gun sales were allowed there). He got into a heated dispute and went to another booth to buy ammo. Luckily the second seller was aware of the conflict and refused to sell him the ammo. The customer left after someone called the sheriff but it sure put the place on pins and needles after that. The policy at the flea market changed after that incident. No gun sales openly offered or conducted on-site after that. (They have since been bought out and it is now a new car lot.)

There was one main incident that had taken place in Texas that caused the national controversy.

On August 3, 2019, a mass shooting occurred at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, United States. A gunman shot and killed 23 people and injured 23 others. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime.

I do not believe the ammo or weapon was from Walmart sales. If that same individual had gone to the garden center and purchased ammonia nitrate fertilizer and used it in a bomb with similar results, Do you think that they would just close all garden centers in the US?

The anti 2nd amendment crowd pushed the Walmart management to take some action, which they did. They later quietly modified that announcement to allow certain items to be back on the shelf.

This made the trip to the local Target store more enjoyable. My reaction would be to go after the offender and not the source of the items used. If your family got wiped out in a car accident by a new Cadillac, would you go after the dealer that sold that car to the offender???????

Here in Connecticut, being old and ugly, now that we have to buy bags again, my driver forgets bags, so I go out with the item loose. Same thing with ShopRite.

Additionally, I don't believe that if someone has too much to drink and then gets in an accident while driving the bartender should be held accountable.

I'm not answering for Bow...

Around here stores don't sell ammo to a gun buyer that same time , (Day?) Usually.
Not uncommon to either be escorted to checkout with ammo , or ammo taken to a checkout and you are given the checkout/registers number.

Walmart got rid of handgun ammo near me. I bought boxes for half off regular price. How that prevents abuse of firearms I don't know....

Nothing like unarmed victims to make the potential for mass shootings worse in my opinion.
I don't relish the idea of having to defend my life by killing someone. I'd rather do that than let someone shoot me without my having a chance to ruin their life too though.
So I'm armed at Walmart. And many other places.
If Walmart wants to be unarmed , and or not sell guns or ammo , that's on Walmart.Like many businesses , they cannot insure my safety simply by the products they sell ,or don't sell. I take some responsibility for my being able too ensure some degree of safety (well at least some defense against maniacs trying to kill me anyways) in certain conditions.
It's a crazy world sometimes.

I hardly go to Walmart but when I do I offer my receipt to the person at the door and they have never asked to see it or my goods. There is more to this story than what is being told.

wow guys and i thought i was old and ornery.

The fertilizer and car analogies don't work. Big difference. You can't stop selling fertilizer or cars because some pinhead is going to turn it into a deadly weapon. The overwhelming majority of people use those two items responsibly. But guns have one purpose, to kill someone or something. We can assume anyone who buys one is thinking about killing someone or something with it. Whether it's to kill for food, in self-defense or out of anger, that's why they bought it. That's why many stores are taking a hard line on guns. Hard to make excuses to the grieving families of victims when you're selling an item whose sole purpose is to take a life. Just my take on it...

Lots of auto laws and restrictions on their use. I'm not going to check the fatality score vs firearms by unwarranted victims. Around me the auto toll is higher. Deliberate or not. Locked up the brakes today on a busy road doing the speed limit when an idiot made a left in front of me without enough room or time. My other much heavier truck would have T-boned him. Intentionally or not.
Had I run him down for being an idiot ,it would have been intentional though. And road rage , right?

Ammonium nitrate is now restricted. Dad used to blow ponds using it. I still recall the recipe. Try buying some today though.
Yet , farmers have to guard it carefully if they can acquire any. It has been stolen. Who do you guess stole it? Other farmers?

Walmart not selling guns changes little in some one wanting to acquire ones attitude. Never forget we have a doorway to South America. And South America has a doorway to the world. How does Walmart not selling something affect those doors?
Look to Mexico for the answer.
Feel good stuff. So folks sleep better at night knowing the world is safe in their neighborhood. Till it ain't.

Been to walfart once this year, thats one too many visits for me, I greatly prefer meijers and krogers.

Well sir, you have your opinion. My thought is a gun is to keep that from happening. Self defense does not mean "killing someone or something" it means a deterrent to those who intend on that action. Literally millions of folks in the US own guns and and a small percentage use them to commit evil deeds. That is why the US has adapted what they call a complete back ground check of a potential buyer. So now you are stating that they cant stop the fertilizer sales because many use it for good deeds, yet the self protection capabilities of a firearm somehow does not fit your same analogy. Lets hope that you sir do not get into a situation where you have to use ur fertilizer for self protection. A firearm used by the overwhelming majority of owners can be used also in a responsible manner

We have Kroger’s here for years but you have to have a special “mark” Lol to get their sale price :icon_scratch::tongue3:

Meijer is ok (they have Coinstars), but if you go thru a checkout bring a tent and supplies, yes you’ll be in line waiting that long. :laughing7:

Ever hear of target or competition shooting? its a sport. A sport that even can earn one scholarships for school and even earn an income. So your logic failed immediately.

I have heard it called "Olympics" also. :notworthy:

While waiting for tires to be mounted at Walmart, I surfed their free WiFi for GLOCK accessories. NOTHING. How can all these websites be down at the same time? I switched off their WiFi and these sites worked. They censor their WiFi. Shameful.

Is it not unusual for retailers anywhere to censor their free WiFi? For the chilren.

I like our Walmart here in Gunnison. Never any problems there, people open carry all the time without issue.
Theres a security guard now that asks if you have a mask but I just walk by and ignore her and do my shopping like a free man.
It's all about location.
