Went into bank this afternoon and they had $30 in CWR halves. Took them all, and to my surprise all solid silver Walking Liberty with a number of the coins from the 1940s XF condition.
Also included in the roll was a 1916-D obverse. As a bonus, one of the rolls had $11. 62 coins in all.

Great score! I do have a question though .... how do you get $11.62 in half dollars?

He got a role with $11 in it instead of the normal $10. One roll had 2 extra half Dollars in it. So he had 3 rolls that are 20 coins each plus one of them had 2 extra coins. That equals 62 coins total.

If you saw a few of the coins mowers have gotten ahold of that I’ve found you’d understand how you can have 11.62$ in halves....:laughing7:
What a SCORE! Who in the hell wouldn’t know about this stuff? Are these just really old rolls? It would seem inconceivable this could happen...but obviously it does. That is a good day right there!!

Man.....I can't dig one of these.....yet this man finds rolls in circulation! Congrats great score!

Nice grab! somehow made it past the tellers to you, that alone is a stroke of luck.

Nice score! Congrats

same haul for me at the CU____________________________ 3 rolls of CWR halves------------

Me: OMG 62 Walkers for face value!!!
Wife: Why are you rolling around our bed with half dollars?
Me: FACE VALUE!.....Leave me alone.

Thanks. Yeah, sometimes the tellers take them for themselves, and other times they either never look or just don't care.

Guess grandpa died and the grandson needed some Monster and smokes.

That is what I think - someone died and the heirs cleaned out the house and didn't care about the coins, so they just dumped them. The dimes and nickels I got that day were skunks, so either they didn't save other denominations or they did and the rolls of the good stuff were long gone by the time I went to the bank.

The all clad happened to me today. Went to a bank this morning and asked for halves (in addition to the dimes and nickels) and they said they had them. I asked how much and the teller said they have a lot. So I took $40 - they were CWR, but clearly someone's dump - the kind of halves you get when you search boxes (most look like run through casinos and a few "newer" ones from the 1970s). I am playing the odds and leaving the rest for someone else (I have to re-roll or spend to dump). When I get CWR clad and they are mostly BU from the 1970s I then go back to take them all because I figure that is some dump that someone had saved for years, and maybe there are other rolls with silver.

Not at the Chinese bank i went to a few years ago. Close to where I used to live is a Chinese community and several banks. I went into one and I showed the cute teller a JFK and an IKE and asked if she had any. Of course I speak more Chinese than she does English, she thought I wanted to sell them. I finally convinced her I want to buy any. Hew face lit up and she pulled a baggy of coins out of her top drawer. I kept my poker face when she started counting them out. I paid about $15, quickly left because I felt I had just robbed the place. They were all big coins. Morgans, Peace and a couple of silver rounds.
